Caring for Your Brows

In order for your new brows to heal properly and look their best, the Pre & Post Care Instructions found below are of the UTMOST IMPORTANCE! Pre-Care instructions are designed to limit bleeding and skin sensitivities during the service. Excessive bleeding during the procedure can dilute the pigment color and lead to poor results.

*There are no implied or written guarantees if you do not follow the pre and post care instructions!

PRE-CARE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Do not work out 24 hours before procedure.
  • NO alcohol or caffeine 24 hours before procedure. This includes fat burning products and pre-workout products/beverages.
  • Avoid sun and tanning one week prior to procedure.
  • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Advil/Ibuprofen 24 hours before procedure.
  • Avoid Fish Oil, Prenatal Vitamins, and “Hair, Skin, Nail” supplements 24 hours prior to procedure.
  • Discontinue Retin-A 4 weeks prior to procedure.
  • Refrain from use of any Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) products close to the eyebrow area 2 weeks prior to and 2 weeks after your procedure.
  • Waxing treatments should be performed no less than 3 days prior to your enhancement, and 2 weeks after enhancement.
  • No brow tinting one week before, and 2 weeks after.
  • Botox treatments on the upper half of the face should be done 3 weeks prior to your PMU appointment.
  • Laser or chemical peels should be avoided 4-6 weeks prior to your PMU appointment.

PLEASE NOTE: You will be more sensitive 1 week before and during your menstrual cycle.

We strongly advise prospective new clients to book their microblading appointments at least 3-4 months in advance of vacations, weddings, and special occasions. This allows adequate time for healing before your event.

POST-CARE INSTRUCTIONS

PLEASE NOTE: Eyebrows will appear darker and bolder due to natural scabbing and healing for the first two weeks. This is very common for all permanent cosmetic procedures.

  • Avoid Retin-A (or other retinoids), chemical peels and microdermabrasions around the brow area once healed.
  • DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring and pigment loss!
DAY OF PROCEDURE
  • Wipe brows every 1-2 hours after your procedure with the provided wipes in your aftercare kit. This will keep your brows clean and prevent heavy scabbing.
  • Before bed, apply healing gel or balm to each brow using a cotton swab. Apply the gel/balm 2x a day, for at least 4 days until you run out.
  • Your aftercare kit contains 2 eyebrow shields. These must be used in the shower to protect your brows from getting wet, especially when washing your hair. They are reusable, as long as they are used on clean skin.
24 HOURS POST PROCEDURE
  • Clean the brow area 1-2 times a day with plain water. Use a damp cotton ball, dab on and immediately dab dry. You will need to clean your brows this way for the first 7-10 days following your procedure.
DAYS 1-10
  • Keep eyebrows dry as much as possible for the first 7-10 days. This includes not getting it wet in the shower.
  • Avoid sweating for a full 10 days. Any physical effort, gym, hot weather, any other activity that may cause sweating through or on the brows will expel pigment from the dermis producing poor results.
  • Avoid sleeping on your face/brow.
  • Keep your bangs and hair pulled back from your face.
  • NO makeup or skincare products to be used on the treated area for this time period.
  • You may resume your regular skincare routine and makeup application after 7-10 days.
FIRST 2 WEEKS
  • Avoid pool, sauna, steam rooms, hot showers and/or hot baths for 1-2 weeks.
  • Eyebrow tinting and waxing should not be undertaken for 2 weeks after your procedure.
FIRST 4 WEEKS
  • COMPLETELY avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for a minimum of 4 weeks after your procedure. Direct sunlight can cause the pigment to change color while it is healing and can also cause hyper pigmentation and scarring.
  • NO facials, chemical and laser treatments, and microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.
